About the Performers

JAMES WALTON is the Organ Scholar at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland, Oregon. He is an avid improviser, pianist, choral singer, early musician, continuo player, and composer. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance (2025) with High Distinction and a Minor in Historical Performance in Voice from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. At IU, James received the Barbara and David Jacobs Scholarship, and was awarded the Performer’s Certificate for his senior recital. His primary teachers include Christopher Young, Jeffrey Smith, Bruce Neswick, Judith Malafronte, Emily Lau, and Cléa Galhano. While in Bloomington, James served as Assistant Organist at First United Methodist Church for three years. Growing up in Portland, he began singing as a chorister in the Pacific Youth Choir and later the Cathedral Choir at Trinity Episcopal, and before coming to music as a career he worked as an electrician. James loves and lives to make music as a soloist and collaborator, and feels very much at home in a liturgical setting as well as concert performances.

KATHERINE WEBB serves as Canon for Music at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland, Oregon, where she directs the Cathedral’s choral ensembles, oversees the Royal School of Church Music in America (RSCMA)-affiliated Choir School, manages Trinity’s concert series, and plays the Cathedral’s landmark Rosales organ. She’s active as a clinician, composer, and recitalist nationwide, having recently served on the board of directors of the RSCMA and as both guest director and organist at multiple RSCMA summer residencies. A graduate of St. Olaf College in Minnesota and former public school choral educator, she earned the Doctor of Music degree in organ performance at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. She and her husband Dan enjoy attending CrossFit classes, spoiling their golden retriever Joanie, and playing with their baby son Adam.
